HIGH POINT, NC -- Life is all about perspective. Alexander Julian sees the world through a textile perspective. That much is clear in a 30-year career that has left an indelible mark on the fashion and furniture industries. Julian met National Assn. Of Real Estate Editors yesterday at The International Home Furnishings Market and chronicled an intrepid approach to design and color that is unencumbered by limiting notions of tradition and semblance. His repertoire is eclectic and his formula for creativity is E squared (Exposure x Empowerment).
Julian was the first American fashion designer to create his own fabrics. Evidence of his talents are shown throughout the High Point Market in the Universal Furniture collections, lighting fixtures, and bed and bath fabrics. Julian is shown above (center) with Lois Weiss of The New York Post and Allen Norwood of The Charlotte Observer. Norwood and Julian were childhood chums.
