Rigid Exercise Regimen Starts With 2-Minute Smile

Cheshire A 30-day plan to harness the Law of Attraction begins with a two-minute smile designed to increase serotonin levels in the brain. Coach Joeann Fossland is getting ready to launch another Relax and Attract teleconference series based upon the works of Esther and Abraham Hicks of The Secret fame. I have attended the teleconference series three times ... it becomes more powerful each time!

Leading medical experts concur with the premise that smiling is good for one's health"

When you are stressed and have anxiety, there’s an activation of various stress areas in the brain.  This alters the concentration of various hormones in blood.  These stress hormones have a variety of impacts on health – you feel stressed, they impair your ability to think over time, they increase cholesterol in the heart, and they change how the immune system functions,” says Dr. Bruce Rabin, director of the Healthy Lifestyle Program at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.

Joeann's Law of Attraction energy is also a special focus of No Blogger Left Behind, a blog coaching Webinar series that we co-present. It leaves me smiling . 8-))))

Developing New Eating Habits Is Adventuresome;
Following Advice of My De Facto Health and Wellness Coach

Linda_and_joe My sister Linda may be the most outstanding nurse on Planet Earth. (She is shown at right on her son's arm at his recent wedding. His dad, Linda's husband, walks alongside.) I've decided to start listening to her. It's silly to disregard the advice of a fantastic coach!!!

She suggeest some changes to my diet. These changes include:

  • Morning shake with skim milk, three tablespoons of flax seed, and a cup of blueberries
  • 10 almonds or walnuts (more than that in one day is a diet buster)
  • Substitute egg whites for whole eggs.
  • Brisk, low imact exercise each day
  • A baby aspirin each day

I think it is funny that this all makes such good common sense and yet it is so profound on so many levels after such a long period of neglect. Better late than never.

I see the doc tomorrow and we are going to review a plan for betterness ... I feel great ... better will be awesome!!!

Makeover Task: Category Cleanse MLM Links!

Despite the fact that I still get web site visitors coming through keywords like "Goji" and "Freelife" I am going to go through my archves and remove category links to those crummy multi-level marketing links. I think that Freelife makes good vitamins, but my present-day thinking has changed about a business built upon juice that is marked up a gazillion percent.

So, I will eschew the nutaceuticals and the "cleanse" products that are hawked without scientific study. I am going to stick with research-based information and clinical studies over at DrWeil.com. I expect to complete a blog category "cleanse" this week!

Makeover Underway at The FAT Lady Blog;
And Then The FAT Lady Goes Out for a Walk and Swim!

WELCOME to the NEW skin of The FAT Lady Blog!

ThefatladyblogThe long overdue makeover of this poor, neglected blog commences today. I kept a shot of the old skin (shown at right)for posterity. I think I like the blue template and the wider text column width. I LOVE the ease with which I can accomplish this. I have to work on a header for the top of the page, but I think that this is a good start. I have to work on some of my other blogs, work on a Clean Sweep -- remove some old links, and bring them up to speed.

This blog is going to get a lot of my bloggy attention in the days ahead as I focus on health and wellness and fitness, and it needs a fresher appearance.

What do you think about the color? I welcome all ideas and suggestions about format AND health!!!

I am going to blog at one of my other blogs and then I am going out for some exercise!

The FAT Lady Hears the Magic Click

There is a part of me that has been waiting for a magic "click" that would make weight loss an easy thing to accomplish, make me immune to temptation, and make exercise a natural part of the day. I lost 65 pounds a couple of years ago and managed to maintain my present weight, but I'm still a long way from my ideal weight.

The magic click is possible ... I heard it 10 years ago when I was smoking a pack of cigarettes a day. On June 1, 1998 my mother was diagnosed with lung cancer. I heard the click that day and ceased that awful habit forever.

I heard the click again this week and I am fully confident that I will reach my ideal weight in 2008 and maintain that weight forevermore. I am very excited! Here's the story:

Monday: I attended Joeann Fossland's Relax and Attract teleseminar based on the Law of Attraction. We are working with a 30-Days-to-Turn-Your-Life-Around workbook. Joeann is offering a free download of the book at the registration page ... it's worth a click! I worked with this book a bit following a business planning retreat in Hawaii, but did not finish the work and I did not focus on weight previously.

Joeann Fossland and I visited Hawaii when she hosted a Reinvention Business Planning Retreat in January. The next time I pose for a photo in Hawaii I will be wearing less. Target date: November, 2008.

Tuesday: I commenced Day One of the program. There is a "Placemat Exercise" that asks, "What I intend to do" and "For the Universe to handle."  This exercise gave me some trouble the last time I worked with this program. The following is a copy of an e-mail exhchange that followed the first class:

Fran: "This was a very good call … quite interesting…  still don’t quite get that give-it-to-the-Universe thing. Stumps me every time."

Joeann: "Are there any parts of your life you'd envision differently ( perhaps weight, the web tech situation..those kinds of things)?  Intentionally asking the universe to handle it can get it handled without you needing to pay attention.

Fran: LOL …I am happy to let the Universe handle the sucky tech issues. Good idea!!! Weight is definitely in MY column.

Joeann:  Hmmm...what if it wasn't?

Fran: That would be called “denial.”

Joeann:  OK, that is one possible way of looking at it, but is it working? It feels sorta upstream. What if letting go that it is your job and giving the universe the instruction of how you envision it in a perfect world. I love today's quote...

Fran:  "Where is that quote? I’ll bookmark the web site. I’ll take your advice and turn the weight thing over to the Universe … The Universe can’t screw it up any more than I have. call it a leap of faith …"

Joeann: "The quote I was referring to was the Day 1 quote from Abraham.  'The Universe can’t screw it up any more than I have.' (This sounds a little upstream!!!!)"

Following this e-mail exchange I put the word "weight" on the line marked "For the Universe to handle." What happened after that stunned me. I heard the click! I have a new consciousness about every morsel of food that I place in my mouth! I have renewed energy! I am walking more, and I am FEELING thinner.  I puzzled about these things last night and here is my conclusion:

The Universe is perfect. We let perfection rule that part of the day that we subordinate to the care of the Universe. We become partners with Perfection!

I think that I am going to start turning more things over to the Universe!

Blog My Key to Weight Loss?

I need a new photo ... with all the blogs and social networking I am doing I need a good photo ... more than that I need a photo with a thinner face ... elongating a photo is one option, but weight loss is probably the best idea ... I have a feeling that attaching a diet regimen to a daily blogging regiment may be the ticket here! This is a new Day One!

The Fat Lady Is Facing
An Extreme Makeover

I have neglected this poor blog as much as I have neglected my weight loss efforts since the summer. That's about to change! The first things to "go" are some of the scammy links in the side column. I'm collecting some new links that are spiritually more nutritious The next thing to "go" is this excess poundage!!!

Living In Thin In Tucson

Another blogger is taking her weight loss goal public. Master coach and real estate celeb Joeann Fossland is using using the Isagenix nutritional system. (She is shown above during a recent village to State College as a featured speaker at a District Conference of the Pennsylvania Assn. of  REALTORS®):

"What I have some trepidation about is my swimsuit persona. Now, I know the bikini days of  my 20's and 30's are well behind me, but who says a baby boomer can't still look HOT in a swimsuit?

"I shared last summer that I had discovered a great nutritional system called Isagenix and had done a 9 Day Cleanse. I have lost 14 pounds and 20+ inches since then. The best news is that while I was in 16 cities this Fall, I didn’t gain any of it back. AND, I usually succumb to a couple of days in bed with a cold when I come off that many trips on the road, but I know using the products has insulated me from getting run down!

"So, my goal is to lose another 10 pounds between now and when we leave on January 18th."

Good luck, Joeann!

10 Delicious Daily Habits Game
Is Tough For Beginners!

There are days when it is extremely hard to do 100% of the 10 Delicious Daily Habits Game and I let some things slide... it's usually "cooking something" or "reading". Sometimes, like today, I'm out of the house by 5 AM to get to the YMCA for my swim (luxurious) and then go to the office and dig in. I'm likely to return home with just about enough energy to find the bed, and can barely keep my eyes open to read.

I haven't considered reading during the day, but I may just take a walk with my book and enjoy a "reading break" on a bench, Since I work a zillion hours, I don't expect that I'll have a lot of guilt about that.

When I do cook, I usually do so in abundance, with lots of stuff for the freezer and portions to share, so I'm not going to feel real guilty about missing a day or two of cooking. I'm about ready to make a bunch of Polish Babka -- don't eat the stuff myself -- but I usually make that in batches of 30 loaves or more -- 30 LARGE loaves. I used to do that relieve stress....but exercise and other new DDH have reduced the stress level by about 75%, so the next batch will be fun...no more "imagine this is so and so" when I punch an enormous heaving mound of 30 loaves of babka dough rich with egg yolks, sugar, and milk (very sinful food). This time I'll do my heavy kneading to the tune of some sorrowful Irish ballads, my favorite music. (Salty tears is the secret ingredient of good bread 8-)

This is a very hard challenge...but the people closest to me see a positive difference. What's good for me is good for them, too.

10 Delicious Daily Habits Game

Practice week is over. Joeann Fossland's game starts in earnest today. Here's my list:

1. Prepare a meal or cook SOMETHING.
You may think this is easy, but sometimes a whole week can pass without using the oven or range.
2. Eliminate 1 problem.
I've accomplished this task five times already today.
3. Drink 120 oz. of water.
It's only 3 PM and this one is done. I am VERY hydrated.
4. Swim or exercise 1 hour.
I had my Hydro class first thing this morning. Great way to start a day!
5. Talk to Jens and/or Andreas.
I had lunch with Jens today. He was in town from State College. Talk about a good day!
6. Write or blog for at least 60 minutes.
This post counts toward that goal.
7. Listen to a real estate interview online.
I listened to an Allan Dalton (REALTOR.com) interview on Broker Agent News Online.
8. Read a book at least 1/2 hour.
I'm still reading Ellen Gustafson's Silver Wheel. I'm not linking because her publisher is not coming through with royalty payments and there are lots of people selling this book online. I'll do a link at a later date. (Update: Heck, Ellen just posted a comment with the link, so here it is. Ellen and I have been best friends since early days in grade school.)
9. Speak personally with a Real Estate Blog Squad member.
Great folks! I'll be speaking with Jane Bustad later today.
10. Write or edit real estate book 1 hour.
I'm in the final edit phase of a real estate how-to book that will be available very soon.
