U.S. antitrust regulators will sue the National Assn. of REALTORS® over policies that are alleged to illegally restrict commission discounting, according to a report in The Wall Street Journal yesterday. The move follows recent skirmishes between the Department of Justice Antitrust Div. and NAR at the state level, where state commissions and legislatures have tried to establish "minimum standards" for brokers that would thwart some discount broker business models. The suit follows a two-year-long study of NAR rules relating to Internet property listings display on Virtual Office Websites.
